CARHA Hockey World Cup March 4 - 11, 2012

It's been labeled the "Olympics" of rec hockey and since its inception it has grown to be the largest international adult rec hockey tournament in the world.

The world renowned CARHA Hockey World Cup is organized every four years in a select Canadian city, and is an event that attracts participants from all across Canada, the United States, and Europe, each sharing a passion for the sport of hockey.

In addition to the Sugar Bush for producing maple syrup, the family also owns and operates Gilbertson’s Pancake House. On this tour you not only get to tour the maple syrup facilities, but can taste and enjoy the produced maple syrup with an all-you-can-eat meal that includes pancakes, sausages, baked beans and beverages.

Sault Ste. Marie, ON. – Going into the game, Nick Minardi, #11 for Mr. Transmission enlightened me on his team’s strategy, “We will probably just use our speed, and skill… and rely a little bit on our goalie.”  And rely on their goalie they did; Travis O’brien supplied his team with unmatchable skills between the pipes stopping every shot to come his way!  

However, it was a true team effort, and Minardi predicted the game entirely.  Mr. Transmission dominated the game from beginning to end; they were fast and smooth with the puck, racking in five goals, leading the team to a 5 – 0 victory over the Soo Greyhounds Free Agents.

Sault Ste. Marie, ON. – The Wild Turkeys stole the show Wednesday night at the Pavilion drawing in a large crowd to the Ford of Canada sponsored “Community Day” event.  

The warmer weather was a welcomed gift, as families had a blast while they got to rock out to the Bluegrass Country tunes of The Wild Turkeys as they filled up on food and beverages!  Even more so, children age twelve and under got to eat and drink for free!
